Oliver has a long-standing military connection, as the BC government’s 1919 Soldiers Settlement Act drew many WWI veterans to Oliver to buy farmland at reduced prices.

Since that time, many Oliver residents have chosen to serve in the military both during global conflicts such as World War II and in peacetime. During times of war, many residents also found other ways to contribute to the war effort through farming, volunteer service, scrap metal and clothing drives, acts of home economizing and financial support, such as buying war bonds.

The pamphlet below, Remembering, features selected stories of some of Oliver’s men and women who contributed during wartime.
